“It’s expensive to eat healthy.”
I hear this phrase all the time from my patients – and honestly, I believe there’s truth to it.
For many families, it really is more costly to buy fresh, whole foods than it is to grab something processed and cheap. And when you’re working long hours and trying to stretch every dollar, the math just feels impossible. It’s that simple.
What’s frustrating is that the food industry has leaned into this reality, reinforcing the idea that real food is out of reach and making convenience the default.
So how do we start changing that narrative? How do we make eating well accessible not just for those who can afford it, but for everyone?
That’s what this week’s Life of Flow conversation with dietitian Derrick Walker is all about.
